Is he still alive?! It's amazing how there's so little info about him online, especially since he has done a number of decks (some of them very celebrated in the tarot world). It's like the Pamela Coleman-Smith curse or something (the work being famous, the artist forgotten).

I bet Arnell Ando would know. But I don't think you can call the artist forgotten; there is a LOT of interest.....

Well, yes of course there is a lot of interest in his works. But I guess I was disappointed not to find even a short biography wherener I see his decks featured.

Oh! Is this new? I never encountered the site when I did a search for Amerigo Folchi before. Too bad some of the pics are too dark. :( I wonder why they don't try approaching major publishers, given that the designs are already finished and that they're 78 card decks?
My personal fave from the lot's the one with the big women

I e-mailed Arnell, who doesn't know, but suggested Frank Jensen; I have emailed HIM now. Watch this space. If anyone knows, he will

Every deck designed by Folchi is well done, with an aesthetic sense... but like a lot of decks of italian artists the real sense is loose... Despite this, all are wondefull decks... and when you have seen the original drawings, you understand that Folchi is a great artist.

I just heard back from Frank Jensen. Folchi has simply disappeared from the radar - afer his last deck (Master) was published he just vanished - much like Frankie Albano. If anyone hears from him, please let Frank know !!!!

Has anyone tried contacting the webmaster of the site posted by Palestrina? Maybe he still has contact with Folchi?

I am sure that they must have approached major publishers. It seems strange that the Museo dei Tarocchi has not published at least one of his decks.
I, myself, would be happy to publish one of Folchi's unpublished decks, but I have not received any reply to my email.

He passed away. This morning in a Facebook group, someone said it was COVID-related.

Oh that's REALLY sad. Especially, somehow, that Covid got a shot at him.

He was in PISTOIA ? I was stranded there for 5 days once; I could have gone and MADE FRIENDS !
I think that art site is - VERY dodgy on info collecting ! It reminds me of another art site where the whole life of an artist we used to know personally was hugely wrong - wrong wife (he had had two and they had almost left the first sort of in place for his whole life...) wrong who he lived with where and when, wrong children.... If I had been a family member I'd have made a fuss...

I'm glad I deleted the link then. I won't bother with a history search to duplicate...
As far as Pistoia, yes, this info is ACCURATE. Look in the LWB in your Tarocco del Mundo Nuovo. It's in there I included it in my search to get to my article, along with the Italian word for painter.Last edited on Wed Aug 12th, 2020 10:46 am by Reece

DAMN, if only I had KNOWN (some critical bit on the van died half way up a mountain road - bearings of some kind; the Italian word for whatever it was translated to little pillows ! - and we had to wait there while they sourced the part.)
