All the philosophers agree that our Stone is composed of three things: the body, the
spirit and the soul. Now the white foliate earth is the body, the ferment is the soul that
brings it life and water is the spirit’s intermediary. Reunite these three things into one
by way of marriage, by grinding them finely over a clean stone, such as to unite them
in their most indefinite particles, to form a confused chaos. When you have made one
body of the whole, put it gently in a special phial, which you will place on your warm
bed, so that the mixture may coagulate, fix and become white. Take this blessed white
stone and grind it subtly over a very clean stone; imbibe it with a third of its weight of
water to lower its thirst. Then restore it to the clean and clear phial over its lukewarm,
tepid bed so that it starts to sweat, to release its water and then lastly, you will leave its
entrails out to dry. Repeat this process several times until the complete preparation of
our most excellent fixed white Stone, that penetrates the most minute parts of bodies
lightning quick, rushing like fixed water when set on fire, changing the imperfect bodies
into true silver, which is comparable in every way to natural silver. Of note, if you
repeat many times all of these operations in the same order: dissolve, coagulate, grind,
decoct, your Medicine will become even better, its excellence will augment more and
more. The more you work your Stone to augment its virtue, the more the yield at the
time of the projection on imperfect bodies. Such that after one operation one part of
Elixir changes a hundred parts of any body into the Moon, after two operations a
thousand, after three ten thousand, after four a hundred thousand, after five a million,
after six thousands of thousands and so forth to infinity. Hence the adepts all praise the
great maxim of the philosophers concerning perseverance at reiterating this operation.
If a lone imbibition was enough, they would not have insisted on the matter. Thanks to
the Lord. Amen.
If you wish to change this glorious Stone, this white King that transmutes and
tinges Mercury and all imperfect bodies into the true Moon, I say, if you so desire to
change it into the Red Stone that transmutes and tinges Mercury, the Moon and the
other metals into the true Sun, operate as follows.
Take the white Stone and divide it into two halves; augment the one to the state
of white elixir with its white Water, as abovementioned, until you have obtained a
limitless amount. Put the other half in a new bed of the philosophers, clean, tidy,
transparent, spherical, and put the whole into the furnace of digestion. Augment the
intensity of the fire until by its power and strength the matter is changed into a very red
stone, which the Philosophers call Blood, Purple Gold, Red Coral, Red Sulphur. When
you will see that this colour is as bright a red as that of the dry, calcined crocus, then
