I am looking for any source material that contains Newton's actual alchemical writings. I am looking for books, manuscripts, etc. I would appreciate any resources that anyone on the forum may know about. Sincerely, Will From: Stephen Pastorello Date: Mon, 7 Sep 1998 You might start with Frances Yates, an English author who worked at London University and the Warburg Institute .... Regards, Stephen Pastorello From: Jeffrey Date: Mon, 7 Sep 1998 Dear Will: in The Janus Face of Genius by Betty Jo Dobbs which is a study of the spiritual element in Newton's alchemy there are several of his alchemical writings in the appendix. Michael White has a fairly good biography of Newton which includes consideration of his alchemical thought: Isaac Newton, The last Sorcerer. In addition there is an alchemical text by Newton reproduced in Ambix-5(1956) presented by F. Sherwood Taylor. Jeff From: Theisen, Wilfred Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 I would check out everything published by Betty Jo Deeter Dobbs From: Claude Gagnon Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 If it may help, my study on Newton's interest in Flamel has been published in Chrysopoeia, tome V(1992-1996), Paris-Milano, Ed. Archè, p.733-738 : *Isaac Newton lecteur de Nicolas Flamel*. Best regards, Claude Gagnon |
