Lindsay's world is full of shadows when her best friend Lorna dies. And Darren's jokes certainly don't help. She can't bear him hanging around her, and finds him unsympathetic and superficial.
But when she finds Bima, the Indonesian shadow puppet, and Bapujee the flute-player, she begins to come to terms with her grief, and to learn that 'sorrows are not for keeping in the heart'. Slowly, she also begins to appreciate Darren.
