Jan Mandyn or Mandijn (c.1500-1560)
Mandyn was active between 1530 to 1560 primarily in Antwerp. Very few of the paintings assigned to him were signed, and some are supposed to have been made by Pieter Huys or some other unidentified artist. His work awaits a scholarly study. The book by Marc Rudolf de Vrij Jan Mandyn, M.R.V. Publishers, Zwanenburg, 2006, makes a good start, bringing together some of the available source material about Mandyn, however, de Vrij's ascriptions are based on his own judgment and it seems important that a study should be made of the material of the paintings themselves, to sort out the problems.
