Adam McLean's Gallery of alchemical images Freher Series This series which D. A. Freher designed at the beginning of the 18th century, to illustrate the deep pirnciples of Jacob Boehme's philosophy, was included as full page engravings in the William Law edition of Boehme's works, published in 1764-81. These illustrations particularly deal with cosmology, and especially the emanation of the spirit and its encounter with matter initially through Adam and then through the intervention of Jesus Christ in spiritual evolution. I have tried to reflect this spiritual philosophy in the colouring scheme I have adopted. Go back to alchemical images index page
