The Artwork of Modern Tarot Project
This site focusses on the artwork and symbolism found on modern tarot decks.

In the last 50 years an enormous amount of creative energy has been focussed on the tarot. Well over two thousand tarot decks have been designed and published in some form. There is a delightful variety of ways in which the various designers and artists have realised new tarot decks. The tarot with its tight structure of 22 major arcana each based on a clear image, and the 56 minor arcana with its four suits of pips and court cards, might seem a restriction on the creative imagination, but the opposite appears to be the case, as there are some astounding interpretations and reworkings of tarot imagery to be found. This recent evolution of the tarot suggests that it has now become a kind of emblem book reflecting the social history of our age back to us.
Here we approach tarot as artwork, and do not deal with the esoteric philosophy nor the divinatory aspect of the cards. Both of these perspectives are dealt with in great detail elsewhere and links will be provided for those interested in those particular aspects of tarot.

Study course on the Artwork of Modern Tarot. This series of lessons leads us through the mass of modern tarots and show us how to compare and analyse modern tarot designs and place them in their context. This is an entirely original approach to tarot as art.

Limited edition Artwork Tarots. I have published a number of exciting tarot designs in small signed editions. Twenty three were issued. This enabled the work of tarots artists who could not find a mass market publisher to get their work into the form of a printed deck. These decks are really for collectors who appreciate tarot as art.

Due to a number of people scanning my tarot decks at high resolution and distributing these on the internet I have had to cease producing any new tarots. It is impossible for me to invest my capital, time and enthusiasm in publishing tarot decks if the sales are decimated by people making printable copies available on the internet, on file sharing sites and torrent files. These parasites and criminals are directly responsible for my giving up publishing tarots. They are disgraceful people who don't care about the consequences of their actions. Well, they are responsible for bringing my tarot publishing project to a close, but I don't expect them to care one jot.
